Non Chemical Water Conditioning is a practice that has been around for decades. Energy is applied to these conditioners via a continuous low voltage, low amperage charge to the core of the system creating a weak magnetic field. The core of the unit contains a static mixer which provides turbulence. The result is that the water is mixed while contacting the magnetic field. The force from the magnetic field and the free electrons (e^-) pulls on various ions in the water. This effectively disrupts the way salts form in the water.

Two notable changes we have seen in our testing in the lab and field. First, it reduces the surface tension. Water molecules no longer bond as tightly to one another as they did before. This was confirmed by testing at Sandia National Laboratories. Therefore, the water itself is termed “wetter”, meaning it wets a surface more readily. For our purposes, it should penetrate soil better.

Secondly, the Calcium Carbonate (CaCO₃) salt that is formed tends to be more soluble and less adhesive. This is noted when existing scale is removed from pipes. This is attributed to the formation of an Aragonite form of CaCO₃ versus a Calcite form. This has to do with how the 5 atoms (1 Carbon, 1 Calcium, and 3 Oxygen) are stacked together. This was confirmed by testing at the University of Florida in 2008. Aragonite forms of CaCO₃ tend to be softer and less adhesive; however, it is still the same compound. A good example is that some seashells are really hard and others are softer. Both are made up of CaCO₃. The softer ones tend to be of the Aragonite structure. See the microscopic photos below.
